Against the Stream Meditation Group - Weekly Sit

Cost: dana (donation-based) ~ Everybody is welcome, regardless of ability to pay  - all monies collected will be donated to local charities.

A meditation and discussion group seeking to bring more compassion, loving-kindness and understanding to ourselves and to the world.  Through the practice of meditation we can learn to wake up, to break the addiction to the mind, to defy ignorance, to find the truth and choose the path that is against hatred, against greed, against delusion...the path that is Against the Stream.

There will be simple instructions in the practice of Insight, or Vipassana, meditation and the basic Buddhist teachings. You will have a chance to ask all your questions and we'll have some discussion. This group is for beginners or experienced meditators who would like another day during the week to practice in a communal setting.  The intention of this group is to help individuals and a community of practitioners develop and deepen their daily mindfulness practice.

Yoga Vallarta Signature Ying/Yang Flow

Emphasizes meditation and breathing while passively holding floor poses for longer periods to enhance chi (energy) and its movement through the meridians (channels)
and chakras. This Taoist yoga style targets the joints and connective tissue of the back, hips and pelvis. Yin yoga also increases one’s ability to perform yang yoga. By having lubricated, flexible joints, yang practices will seem easier. For beginners, advanced practitioners and athletes.

Yoga Vallarta Signature Flow

This is the best and most inspirational class in town! We use all genres of music, we work hard and we have fun. A physical Hatha class that allows your mind, body and spirit to move more freely by focusing on pranayama, asana, alignment and meditation in a flow inspired class. This invigorating practice has a strong foundation in Ashtanga with a focus on core strength and breath awareness building heat in the body to release stress, tension and toxicity. Each instructor offers unique sequencing that includes standing, balancing, seated and inverted postures. Great for all levels from advanced to beginners!

Anusara-Inspired Deeep Stretch

Anusara means “to step into the flow of grace” and “to follow your heart”. Anusara Yoga is a powerful hatha yoga system that weaves a life-affirming Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment. This elegant method combines precise therapeutic biomechanics with breath and a sense of  playfulness, creativity and kindness to bring practitioners back into alignment with their own divine nature.
(Mondays & Fridays 8AM - Duration: 50-60 minutes)

Power 60

Power 60 or Power Yoga is a rigorous form of yoga characterized by a flowing series of poses practiced in continual and rapid succession. It is an energizing class with traditional yoga poses that encourages alignment and balance while emphasizing stamina, strength and flexibility. The variation of intensity makes this class perfect for men and women with a good level of fitness and is suitable for beginning and experienced yoga students alike. Expect to sweat with grace! Showers available.
Great class for those looking for that extra challenge!!!

Core Mat Pilates

Pilates is done on a mat using the resistance of one's own body weight in fluid movements. It builds strength from the inside out, while increasing range of motion and rebalancing the body. You will stretch, strengthen, tone and align the body, while eliminating excess tension and strain on the spine and joints. This class is designed to improve posture, core, pelvic and shoulder stability while increasing muscle tone and helps you on your way to a firmer and flatter stomach. All levels welcomed.

Yoga Balance Flow

Gentle Movement & Stretching

Suited for all levels from those new to yoga, have temporary or chronic physical limitations or who just want a less vigorous class. Slow down the mind and body through breathwork, gentle stretches, movements and deep relaxation. Designed to increase awareness, strength, flexibility and focus. More experienced students who enjoy a slower paced class also enjoy Gentle Stretching.

Yoga for Strong Core

When we exercise our focus tends to be on all the other parts of the body, but not on our core.  A strong abdominal core is key  for a healthy and functional body.  The abdominal muscles are a central muscle that assist us in our breathing, aligns our hips, rotates the truck, keep our torso erect , supports the lumbar spine, and holds the internal organs. Discover how Yoga can train your body and mind to connect to that important group of stomach muscles. Having a strong core is one of the best ways to prevent back pain, improve your posture and enhance your performance in other sports.
This practice enhances muscle tone, flexibility and a peaceful mind. All levels welcome.

Chair Yoga/Mommy2B

Chair yoga offers you the ability to improve your health through an amazing form of adaptive exercise. The chair replaces the yoga mat and becomes an extension of your body allowing you to take full advantage of yoga’s amazing fitness and health potential. You are supported by a chair so you can receive yoga’s healing and restorative benefits that have been known for thousands of years. Those of you with disabilities, weight challenges, inflexibility or who just cannot get on the floor for whatever reason can benefit from a daily practice of yoga on a chair. Yoga relaxes your body and mind, improves your musculoskeletal fitness and flexibility, and elevates your overall health and well-being. Great for the prenatal student!

Organic Stretching...based on the Wallace Method

Free form, multi-dimensional stretching for pain management through increased range of motion.  As we age, we use our bodies incorrectly, and suffer injuries our bodies adapt to new configurations of the structural system and work to maintain these imperfect and often painful relationships.  Organic Stretching classes are designed to gradually open space in the system to allow the body to find its way back to a more perfect alignment, to integrate the spine, and to increase range of motion, restoring the ability to move with ease.  Registration directly with Pat Henry: pat@pat-henry.com

Belly Dance for Beginners

Belly dance is a sacred feminine art form that engages the body, the mind and the spirit. The expressive movements inspire a sense of grace and strength in the body. This class will integrate the foundations of belly dance for a gentle aerobic workout that is empowering and joyful. No prior experience necessary. Walk-ins welcomed.

Latin Dance for Beginners

You may start Latin Dance for Beginners at anytime!  Our Latin Dance program does not run in sessions and no partner is required. Salsa is an upbeat Latin dance that is easy to learn!   It evolved in the 70's when dancers started to mix Mambo, a popular Latin dance from the 40's and 50's, with the exciting and quick turning patterns of the Hustle, a 70's disco dance. Walk-ins welcomed.
